Shanghai China

So there we are again in a new place. We found a great apartment to stay at the 20th floor of a skyscrapper with a breathtaking view over Fuxing park. Day here starts early. Local people, mostly elderly, doing their morning routine. Some do thai chi, some dance, some do a dance with the swords or some kind of an excercise in pairs. Once I work out the names for what those excercises are called I’ll let you know. They sing, they write with water on the pavement. It made me think of the mandalas as all the words disappear within minutes as they dry out. Stella got her name written down and we got really friendly with the ‘pavement water writer’. We gonna go again tomorrow morning as this is what local people do here!  In the afternoon the park is taken over by families. Bubbles, kites and balls take the reign in the park but in the corners and under the trees the elderly get their thai chi and dance practice, sing and play cards. They do what they like. They don’t care about the tourist who walk around with their guides, take pictures or just sit and watch. It’s difficult to blend in with this little white head of course  but at least people are friendly and curious. They come, talk to us in Chinese, we answer what ever we think we should in polish and we laugh together. Well first time during our travels we can see such strong sense of community and activity of elderly people. Will keep you posted!
